01

Check the package contents

Validated

Set aside the DreamColor Plus, the wireless receiver, and the items included with your version. The Dual Analog version uses a faceplate designed for the second analog stick.

A microSD card, USB cable, faceplate, thumbsticks, covers, and tools are only included when they are part of the order.
02

Charge the controller and prepare the card

Validated

Use a regulated 5 V USB power supply and a cable in good condition. Insert or remove the microSD card only when the controller is completely powered off.

Use a genuine Class 10 or U1 card formatted as FAT32 whenever possible.
03

Make the first connection

Validated

Connect the wireless receiver to a Dreamcast controller port, turn on the console, and then turn on the DreamColor Plus. Initial pairing is automatic.

Keep the controller and receiver close together and wait a few seconds without pressing any buttons.
04

Configure the initial menu

Validated

Hold START for 3 seconds to open the menu. Select the language, mode, and controller type. Then calibrate Analog Stick 1, Analog Stick 2 when present, and the triggers.

Use the input test to check that the buttons, axes, and triggers correctly reach their center and full-range positions.
05

Test Standard mode first

Validated

Launch a game and check the D-pad, A, B, X, and Y buttons, START, triggers, primary analog stick, audio, and vibration before enabling special profiles.

The second analog stick, motion sensors, emulators, and game-specific profiles should be tested separately.
Expected result

The initial test ends here

The Dreamcast should recognize the controller, and the basic inputs should respond normally. After that, configure only the profile or feature you intend to use.

If it does not connect

Restart without changing the firmware

  • Turn off the controller and the console.
  • Make sure the receiver is securely inserted into the Dreamcast controller port.
  • Turn the console back on, followed by the controller.
  • Wait for pairing to complete without pressing any buttons.
  • If there is still no response, record the version and the behavior you observed.
